NG160 Two-storey Modular Restaurant

STAS/20/069/ND35-90/01
Withdrawn

23 September 2020

Due the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic etc, our clients McDonalds Restaurants have decided not to progress with the Type Approval application for this model and wish the above application to be voided / withdrawn.

Essentially, the proposed model at Stirling will be a one-off, and we are proceeding to secure site specific Building Warrant approval with Stirling Council on this basis.

Please accept my sincere apologies for any works undertaken on the STAS process which may now be rendered as being un-necessary.

McDonalds wished to obtain STAS on this model and would respectfully seek assistance from LABSS / Stirling Building Standards with respect to running the STAS submission concurrently with the Stirling BW submission (similar to previous McDs STAS applications with Fife Council, The Highland Council et al).

We wish to retain the same fundamental design features in the proposed NG160 model that were approved in the previous DO160 models, viz:-   ·         Reduction in the fire resistance of the protected zone enclosure to the front escape stair from 60/60 to 30/30

·         Omission of smoke vent to same stair enclosure

·         Single height service counter

As you may recall, these departures were substantiated in the STAS approval by way of support from a fire safety report prepared by Rambolls.    Rambolls are no longer operational in Scotland and have now been absorbed into OFR (Olsson Fire Risk) who have been appointed and have prepared a fire safety report for inclusion in the BW / STAS submissions for the NG160 model.    Any assistance to help streamline the same departure submissions for the NG 160 model would be most appreciated.
