Sainsbury's installed 5 number trial housings with Reverse Vending Machines at stores in Aberdeen, Glasgow & Edinburgh in 2021 to determine the approach to be taken as part of the wider roll out across all of Scotland.

The housings designs were reviewed and redesigned to reflect the learnings from the trials and to incorporate the selected reverse vending machine equipment form the chosen partner / supplier (Tomra)

The housing designs being put forward for STAS approval will be used as part of the nationwide roll out in 2023.

Type GX is the same size/layout of the above to be constructed in materials which achieve our minimum dew point/U-Value calculations but aren’t deemed to be fire rated. This unit type does also include the above VE amendments.

This is a variant to the existing unit types which are already approved including value engineering which is listed below;

Type DX a variant of the original Type E unit type with a reduction in size & as above constructed in materials which achieve our minimum dew point/U-Value calculations but aren’t deemed to be fire rated. This unit type does also include the above VE amendments.

Hi Bob/Stuart,

As discussed over the phone the client has requested that PA remove the foul pop and the sink to the front of the unit. This was highlighted is not to be an issue in terms of STAS or warrant approvals.
