Sainsbury's Deposit Return Scheme

Sainsbury's installed 5 number trial housings with Reverse Vending Machines at stores in Aberdeen, Glasgow & Edinburgh in 2021 to determine the approach to be taken as part of the wider roll out across all of Scotland.

The housings designs were reviewed and redesigned to reflect the learnings from the trials and to incorporate the selected reverse vending machine equipment form the chosen partner / supplier (Tomra)

The housing designs being put forward for STAS approval will be used as part of the nationwide roll out in 2023.
